Contribute to Safer and More Sustainable Aviation
Safran is an international high-technology group operating in the aviation, defense, and space markets. Its core purpose is to contribute to a safer, more sustainable world where air transport connects people and cultures.
With 100,000 employees across 276 locations in 27 countries, Safran holds world or European leadership positions in propulsion, aircraft equipment, aircraft interiors, defense electronics, and space systems.

Our Expertise
Five Domains, One Group
Safran's portfolio spans the full spectrum of aviation and defense technology — from the engines that power commercial aircraft to the landing gear that brings them home, the seats that carry passengers, and the navigation systems that guide military forces.

Aircraft Propulsion
Safran Aircraft Engines is a 50% partner in CFM International, producing the CFM56 and LEAP turbofan families — the world's best-selling commercial aircraft engines. Safran also develops the M88 military turbofan powering the Dassault Rafale and is advancing next-generation open fan architectures through the CFM RISE program.

Aircraft Equipment
Safran Landing Systems is the world leader in aircraft landing and braking systems, serving commercial, regional, business, and military aircraft. Safran Nacelles, Safran Aerosystems, and Safran Electrical & Power complete an equipment portfolio covering the full aircraft systems lifecycle.

Aircraft Interiors
Safran Seats is one of the world's top three aircraft seat manufacturers, supplying economy, business, and first-class seating to major airlines globally. Safran Cabin designs galley inserts, overhead bins, and cabin monuments for Airbus and Boeing widebody and narrow-body programs.
Defense
Safran Electronics & Defense develops optronics, avionics, navigation, and inertial systems for armed forces worldwide. Its HRG gyroscopes, JIM Compact thermal weapon sights, and advanced navigation platforms are deployed across land, maritime, and airborne defense systems in more than 90 countries.

Space
Safran is a key contributor to European space access, providing cryogenic propulsion systems for the Ariane 6 launch vehicle including the Vulcain 2.1 main engine and HM7B upper stage engine. Safran also supplies satellite equipment and space optical instruments through its space division.
Key Programs
Defining the Future of Aerospace
Safran leads or participates in many of the most significant aerospace technology programs of the decade, from next-generation commercial propulsion to electric aviation and advanced defense systems.
CFM LEAP Engine
The LEAP engine delivers 15% better fuel consumption than the CFM56, with LEAP-1A powering the A320neo, LEAP-1B the Boeing 737 MAX, and LEAP-1C the COMAC C919. Safran Aircraft Engines produces the fan, low-pressure turbine, and engine accessories as the 50/50 partner in CFM International.
RISE Program
Revolutionary Innovation for Sustainable Engines (RISE) is CFM International's open-architecture demonstrator program targeting more than 20% better fuel efficiency than current LEAP engines. Safran Aircraft Engines leads open fan and hybrid electric technology maturation for entry into service in the mid-2030s.
ENGINeUS Electric Engine
Safran's ENGINeUS is a family of high-power-density electric motors for hybrid and fully electric aircraft. The ENGINeUS 100 (100 kW) received its certification and has been awarded Innovation Fund support through the PULL project, targeting integration into the next generation of regional hybrid-electric aircraft.
SHARP Helicopter Engines
Safran Helicopter Engines is leading the SHARP (Sustainable Hybrid Air-cooled Rotorcraft Propulsion) project alongside MTU Aero Engines and Avio Aero, backed by EU Clean Aviation funding. SHARP targets a new generation of helicopter engines with significantly lower emissions and fuel consumption.
Landing & Braking Systems
Safran Landing Systems is the world leader in aircraft landing and braking systems, equipping more than 27,000 aircraft including Airbus A350, A320, A330, Boeing 787, and military platforms. Products include main and nose landing gear, wheels, carbon brakes, and electromechanical brake actuators.
Defense Navigation & Optronics
Safran Electronics & Defense produces HRG Crystal gyroscopes, JIM Compact thermal imaging systems, and advanced inertial navigation units for land vehicles, naval vessels, and aircraft. Its optronics and navigation systems are in service across NATO and allied armed forces in more than 90 countries.
Sustainability
Committed to a Greener Future of Flight
Safran's sustainability roadmap spans every phase of the aviation ecosystem — from SAF production and next-generation propulsion to electric systems and recyclable aircraft structures. The group's ambition is to help the aviation industry achieve net-zero carbon by 2050.
- SAF production partnerships with Airbus, Technip Energies, and Tereos
- CFM RISE program targeting 20%+ fuel efficiency improvement
- ENGINeUS electric motor program for hybrid-electric regional aircraft
- SHARP next-generation helicopter engine with 30%+ emission reduction target
- Carbon-neutral manufacturing operations commitments by 2030
- Recyclable composite nacelle and thrust reverser structures
