Overview
The Cat MaK M 46 DF is a large-bore four-stroke dual-fuel engine operating on LNG in gas mode with seamless switchover to diesel for maximum operational flexibility. Rated at 7,200–12,600 kW depending on configuration (6–9 cylinders), it achieves IMO Tier III NOx compliance in gas mode without exhaust after-treatment, and Tier II in diesel mode. The M 46 DF is proven on LNG carriers, feeder container ships, bulk carriers, and RoPax ferries. MaK engines are manufactured by Caterpillar Propulsion and supported via the global Cat Marine dealer network.
